Crown Reduction

Not familiar with tree crown reduction? Tree crown reduction is a particular form of pruning or trimming that helps to maintain the health of your tree and makes sure that it lasts for many years to come. This process involves a reduction in the overall height of the crown of the tree, the spread of the tree, or both.

The ultimate outcome is to maintain the overall structure of the tree’s crown, leaving a smaller outline to make sure that the branches of the tree continue to grow properly and allow surrounding plants and shrubs to receive adequate amounts of light.

Usually referred to in percentages, crown reduction can be necessary for a variety of reasons:

  • To allow sufficient sunlight to other plants near the tree
  • To reduce wind-related noise and possible damage to the tree or your property
  • To keep the tree’s appearance uniform and aesthetically pleasing
  • To reduce the weight of the branches to avoid potential hazards
  • To make sure that the sizes of the limbs remain healthy

Tree crown reduction is not a removal of the tree itself. The process is to maintain the health of your tree.
